  Audio  CE  Employee Safety and OSHA:Citations, Record Keeping and Incident Investigation
Date:   1/7/2013Time:   1:15 PM EST-2:15 PM ESTThis introductory audio conference examines the fundamentals of OSHA citations and performing effective incident investigations. Common citations issued in Healthcare will be reviewed. The program includes OSHA recordkeeping requirements and concludes with practical advice for enhancing incident investigations.
Learning Objectives:

On successful completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
  • Examine common causes of OSHA citations in healthcare
  • Distinguish between OSHA recordable and non-recordable injuries
  • Conduct direct cause and root cause analyses during incident investigations

This course is an introduction to those who may be new to the role of safety or a refresher for those who wear many hats in addition to safety.

Rick Barker, Senior Consultant, Humantech, Inc.
  Rick Barker is a Senior Consultant at Humantech, Inc specializing in human performance and well being. He has extensive experience in industrial and healthcare settings with over 8 years focused on evaluating, benchmarking, and recommending improvements in hospital safety programs. Rick has a Masters degree in Human Factors, holds professional certifications in Ergonomics and Safe Patient Handling, and presents frequently on these subjects at professional conferences. He was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals and continues as Chairman of the certification process. During his 20+ year career he has worked in usability testing, product development, EHS auditing, safety, and ergonomics.
