  On Demand  CE  LEANing Diagnostic Services – The Basics That Everyone Should Know

Imaging and laboratory services are constantly challenged to do more with less – less time, fewer people, and less money. How do you cope? One approach is to Lean the operation; this is a critical strategy that should be included in every diagnostic service's quality "tool kit." This presentation will introduce the basic Lean concepts and tools that can create rapid process improvement. A simple, organized, and systematic approach to Leaning an operation is shared that includes tools used in project definition, process measurement, process analysis, process improvement, and process control. Discussion of these tools will incorporate examples of how they can be applied. Simple templates for several key tools will be provided to the participants.
Learning Objectives:

On successful completion of this program, the participant should be able to:
  • Understand basic Lean concepts and tools
  • Explain a simple, organized and systematic approach to Leaning a process
  • Apply a few basic Lean tools to their own operations to drive process improvement
Presenter:
Anne T. Daley, MS, CMQOE, CSSBB, DLM, Senior Consultant, Chi Solutions, Inc
  Ms. Daley is a Senior Consultant for Chi Solutions, Inc. with over 30 years of experience in laboratory and imaging/radiology operations management in small and large organizations, including consolidated diagnostic operations and joint venture laboratories. Her experience also includes mergers/acquisitions, process improvement, cost management, project management, and leadership development. In addition, she has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Phoenix. Ms. Daley has served on the Board of Directors of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA) and is involved in project and committee work with the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) where she chairs the Process Improvement Workgroup. She is a former member of AHRA. In addition to her MS in Administrative Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and BS in Medical Technology, Ms. Daley has special knowledge and expertise in quality management systems. She is certified by ASQ as a Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQOE) and as a Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB). She is also a certified 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Program Facilitator and a Baldrige National Quality Program Examiner.
