On Demand  CE  Calculating the Cost of Healthcare Associated Infections

Educational Grant From Remel
This program will provide an overview of the costs associated with HAIs. We will present a framework for thinking about costs, discuss healthcare financing terms, cost accounting data, and data sources to understand estimates of attributable costs of HAIs, and introduce a cost calculator for MRSA screening. The MRSA cost calculator will be used to demonstrate how to leverage use of such tools to study potential costs of HAIs at participant institutions.
Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation participants should be able to:
  • Describe a framework for the cost of HAIs.
  • Outline the components of costs of HAIs.
  • Demonstrate use of the MRSA Screening Cost Analyzer to estimate the cost of MRSA screening.
  • Operate and apply cost calculators generally.
